Heatwave Update + Festival Forecast

Updated: Jul 1

Through this week we will see the start of the first true heatwave of summer. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to high 20's for our little island, perhaps even creeping into the low 30s through the Weekend and beyond, so if you are heading to the Isle of Wight festival, you are going to need some serious sunscreen along with plenty of water to keep hydrated.

TOMORROW (Tuesday) A fine and pleasantly warm day across the island with sunny spells and occasional areas of high, thin cloud. Temperature 22-24°C inland with a light becoming moderate west-southwest breeze keeping things much fresher in the far west and south.

WEDNESDAY

Another fine day with plenty of sunshine and just patchy cloud at times. Feeling warmer with temperatures 23-25°C inland with a light to moderate west-northwest becoming southwest breeze which will once again keep things fresher in the west and south.

THURSDAY

Another very warm and sunny day across the island. Feeling rather hot inland. Temperature 25-27°C inland with a moderate easterly breeze keeping eastern and southern coastal regions fresher.

FRIDAY Another very warm day across the island with sunny spells but also some cloud moving in, perhaps thick enough for the odd shower locally. The temperature will still be hovering around the mid 20's celsius but with a moderate to fresh breeze on eastern and southern coasts keeping it cooler here.

SATURDAY

Looking very warm or even hot with plenty of sunshine across the island. Temperature 26-28°C in a moderate easterly breeze which will once again keep it cooler in the east and south.

SUNDAY A hot day with plenty of sunshine. Temperature 27-30°C in a moderate easterly breeze that will likely become lighter as time goes on. There is a hint of even higher temperatures as we move into next week on some models, but this is still a long way off and many things can change before then. There is also some uncertainty from Saturday onwards as to if and when some cooler air may make inroads for a time, so please check back later in the week as we will have a lot more detail by then.
