Morning update - downpours with brightness in between today, cold and cloudy tomorrow

TODAY

A mixture of bright or even occasional sunny spells but also showers, some of which will be heavy with the risk of hail and perhaps a rumble of thunder along with gusty winds.

Wind southwest 16-32mph becoming 21-39mph

Rainfall 2-10mm with locally variable amounts

TONIGHT

Further heavy and sometimes thundery downpours are possible at times through the night with some high rainfall totals locally, although towards dawn the showers will move away as some much colder air moves in from the north, although still rather cloudy with some light and patchy rain in places.

Temperature 11-12°C but dropping to 9-10°C around dawn

Wind west-southwest 19-36mph becoming north-northwest 15-26mph by dawn

Rainfall 8-15mm, perhaps as much as 20mm locally with highly localised variations
