TODAY
Frequent showers, occasionally thundery at first will mostly clear away by mid morning to leave behind a mixture of sunny spells, broken cloud and just the odd shower here and there. Temperature 16-17°C Wind west-southwest 16-29mph becoming 18-34mph
Rainfall 2-8mm with locally variable amounts (8mm fallen since midnight at our Lake station)
TONIGHT
A few showers moving through at first but many places seeing a dry night with clear spells. The odd rural mist patch is possible in low lying areas and river valleys. Temperature 9-11°C generally but as low as 6-8°C in a few rural spots although closer to 16°C around windward coasts Wind west-southwest 12-20mph becoming west 5-11mph
Rainfall 0-1mm with localised rainfall possible
TOMORROW
A few scattered showers during the morning but also with occasional sunny spells, although the sunshine will quickly weaken as a large area of cloud and rain push in from the southwest around the middle of the day. The rain will clear for a time by mid/late afternoon, soon to be followed by heavy, showery spells of rain into the evening. Temperature 17-18°C Wind south 6-12mph at first, increasing to 15-26mph by midday, increasing further to 21-39mph by mid afternoon then turning southwest 24-48mph later in the afternoon and into the evening Rainfall 2-6mm
