Morning update - Showers easing for a time but more later today, with a few showers tomorrow afternoon

TODAY

Morning showers will ease for a time, with sunny spells developing between any showers and perhaps lasting for a longer period from late morning into early afternoon. However, as we move into the afternoon, further showers to our north and west will drift slightly further southwards and begin to affect the Island by mid-afternoon, perhaps just reaching more northern parts at first, but likely to reach locations further south as the afternoon progresses. Some of these showers are likely to be heavy, especially for a time during the mid to late afternoon, before clearing away again towards evening.

Temperature: 19–21°C from southwest to northeast across the Island, warmest in the northeast and coolest in the southwest

Wind: West to southwest 14–25 mph, becoming 18–35 mph during the afternoon

Rainfall: 0–3 mm, with localised rainfall possible. 5.6 mm has already fallen since midnight at our Lake station

TONIGHT

Clear spells at first, but showers are likely to move down from the north, possibly turning heavy for a time before clearing away to the south later in the night. This will be followed by long clear spells later. It will be rather chilly compared to recent nights.

Temperature: 12–14°C in general across the Island, perhaps closer to 15°C around windward coasts

Wind: Northwest or west-northwest 7–12 mph, becoming north after midnight at 9–15 mph, then increasing slightly towards dawn

Rainfall: 0–3 mm, with localised rainfall possible

TOMORROW

A bright but rather cool and fresh start to the day, with long sunny spells, although cloud will develop as the day goes on, with a scattering of showers forming through the afternoon. Some of these could be heavy locally, and perhaps even turn thundery as they move out over the Channel during the evening.

Temperature: 19–21°C

Wind: North 9–17 mph. Coastal sea breezes will develop during the afternoon, especially along western, southern and eastern coasts for a time, although these will fade away later

Rainfall: 0–2 mm, with localised rainfall possible
