Morning update - Showers then rain then brighter today, rain and gales then easing tomorrow

TODAY
A cloudy start with scattered showers followed by a spell of more continuous rain from late morning, turning very heavy and squally for a time with the risk of hail and thunder followed by drier conditions from mid afternoon as we see a few sunny spells developing. Temperature 8-10°C Wind southwest 12-21mph becoming 24-39mph by mid morning then becoming 32-48mph but locally gusting as high as 70-80mph around any of the localised downpours, thereafter becoming west-southwest 18-36mph

TONIGHT
The cloud will thicken through the evening as further rain moves in after midnight, turning rather heavy and persistent along with increasingly strong and gusty winds. Temperature 6-8°C at first but rising to 9-10°C by midnight Wind west-southwest 14-26mph becoming south after midnight and increasing to 34-56mph by dawn, locally as high as 68mph

TOMORROW
Rain and strong winds at first with some very strong gusts at times but soon clearing away so that by midday we are likely to see much drier conditions although remaining mostly cloudy with only some very weak sunshine breaking through from time to time. Temperature 9-11°C Wind south-southwest 35-58mph gusting as high as 70mph locally before turning west-southwest 24-42mph by midday and dropping to 17-28mph by the end of the day
