Morning update - Sunny spells today and tomorrow with occasional patchy cloud drifting through

TODAY

Patchy cloud and areas of broken cloud to start the day, but this will gradually fizzle away as the morning goes on, allowing increasingly long sunny spells to develop. By the afternoon it will continue much the same with sunny spells and occasional patchy areas of cloud.

Temperature: 22°C to 24°C across northern, central and eastern parts of the Island, but a slightly cooler 20°C to 21°C further west and south, especially along windward coasts.

Wind: West-northwest 9–17 mph at first, increasing to 12–22 mph and turning westerly, before becoming west-southwest 15–28 mph by mid-afternoon.

TONIGHT

Remaining dry through tonight with long clear spells at first, so quite a pleasant evening really. A little more cloud may start to develop as the night goes on though, with moderate amounts of cloud perhaps drifting in towards dawn.

It will turn rather cool in places too, especially once you get away from the towns and into the more rural parts of the Island.

Temperature: Generally 14°C to 16°C across the Island, but dipping a little lower at around 13°C to 15°C in more rural spots.

Wind: Westerly 8–16 mph at first, becoming variable and very light at just 1–5 mph towards the early hours, before eventually turning southerly around dawn.

TOMORROW

Another mostly fine day tomorrow, with a mixture of sunny spells and broken cloud, along with occasional areas of cloud drifting through from time to time.

The big difference tomorrow will be the warmth, with things turning much warmer across many central, northern and eastern parts of the Island.

Temperature: 25°C to 27°C across central, northern and eastern parts, but closer to 21°C to 22°C along windward coasts, including the west and south coasts, including Sandown Bay and up towards Bembridge.

Wind: South to southwesterly 5–11 mph at first, becoming 8–16 mph during the afternoon, but with onshore sea breezes developing around western, southern and eastern coasts.
