Tonight will see some good clear spells although as the night goes on the temperatures will fall away and we may even see some mist and fog patches developing, especially away from the west coast. Cloud is likely to start arriving from the west towards the end of the night. Min temperature 4'c in the west and northwest, 1-3'c most other areas but a few spots in centre and southeast may fall as low as -1'c leading to some freezing fog patches in these areas. Wind NW 15-20mph becoming 5-10mph in the west and north, 5mph less for all other areas.

Level 2 Advisory 22:00 Dec 16th - 11:00 Dec 17th : Fog and freezing patches will develop in some locations with dramatic changes of visibility over very short distances. A few places wills see temperatures dipping to 0'c or slightly below which give the risk of freezing fog patches. The places most at risk from dense or freezing fog are Newchurch, Alverstone, Adgestone, Merstone, Blackwater, Havenstreet, Ashey, Nunwell, Brading and Wootton Bridge. Other areas away from the west coast may see mist or fog patches too, especially if you are in central, eastern or southeastern parts of the island. Tomorrow will start with mist and fog in places, also a slight frost too, especially in central and eastern parts but thickening cloud and an increasing breeze should clear the fog fairly quickly.

During the afternoon the cloud will thicken further to bring the risk of a little light rain in a few places, especially later in the afternoon/evening Max temperature 11'c in the south and west, 10'c generally but perhaps only 9'c in the northeast.

Wind light W 5-10mph at first but increasing and backing WSW 20-25mph during the afternoon and increasing 25-30mph by evening. 5-8mph less away from the west and south.
