Good sunny spells will continue with occasional areas of patchy cloud moving through.

Tonight (2nd/3rd)

A cold start with clear spells but cloud increasing from the west as the night goes on to bring patchy rain by dawn.

Temperature 0'c to 2'c during the first half of the night with a few central spots down to -1'c but rising during the second half to 3'c to 4'c in the central and eastern parts, 5'c to 6'c in the west and south

Wind NNW 8-12mph becoming W then by dawn WSW 8-14mph

Rainfall 0.2-0.75mm

Tomorrow (3rd)

A rather cold start with outbreaks of rain at times. As the day goes on a few brighter spells may develop but with the continued risk of outbreaks of rain which may turn to sleet or wet snow over the highest hills later.

Temperature 5'c to 7'c but falling through the afternoon to 3'c to 4'c by evening

Wind SW 10-14mph becoming S then switching N early afternoon and becoming 15-18mph before slowly veering NE later

Rainfall 1-2mm

Outlook

Things still look set to turn cold as we head into next week with the potential of snow showers at times, especially around the middle of the week. More on this later.
