A sunny start to the day but showers already in the English channel will start to reach southern parts of the island by late morning and then the rest of the island during the afternoon. Some of the showers may be heavy with hail and possibly sleet as well as wet snow over the hills. Some places will miss the showers but many places will get at least one shower through the afternoon.
