Tonight

A slow thaw taking place in the east and south of the island with sleet and ice pellets through the night.

Further west we are likely to see snow, ice pellets and freezing rain at times although things should dry out a little later in the night.

Temperature -2'c to 0'c in the west, 0-1'c to 1'c in central and northern parts with 1'c to 3'c in eastern and southern parts

Wind ENE 46-55mph with 60 mph gusts possible

Rainfall 2-3mm (2-3cm falling as snow or ice in places)

Tomorrow

Still feeling very cold with a mixture of rain, sleet and snow across the island. The east and south is likely to see sleet or wet snow at times whilst central and western parts may well see snow or freezing rain at first but likely to turn to snow for a time before a thaw sets in later in the evening.

Temperature -1'c to 1'c at first in the west with 1'c to 3'c in the east and south although during the afternoon/evening rising to 1'c to 3'c in the west with 3'c to 5'c in the east and south

Wind E 40-45mph becoming SE 12-18mph
