Morning update - A fine, fresh day today but turning wet, windy and mild tomorrow

TODAY

A generally fine day with good sunny spells and patchy cloud, although later in the day we will begin to see some high, thin cloud pushing in from the west, ahead of the stormy weather for the weekend. Temperature 6-7°C with a few spots seeing 8°C Wind west-northwest 15-28mph becoming 19-32mph for a time before easing back to 8-15mph by evening

TONIGHT

Cold at first with a bit of a ground frost developing before the cloud thickens up and the temperatures slowly rise after midnight. During the early hours we will see a few showers moving in before merging into a longer spell of rain by dawn. Temperature 1-3°C at first but rising to 9-11°C by the end of the night

Wind west-northwest 4-9mph becoming south 25-42mph by the end of the night

A cloudy day with spells of rain, becoming persistent during the afternoon along with low cloud and hill fog. It will also become very gusty with gales developing. Temperature 12-13°C Wind south 28-26mph becoming 34-58mph during the afternoon Rainfall 8-10mm
