Morning update - First day of Meteorological spring and things look rather lovely through today and tomorrow!

TODAY

A fine, sunny first day of meteorological spring despite the cold and frosty start. We may see the odd patch of cloud through the day but the sunshine will be mostly unbroken throughout. Temperature 7-8°C with the odd spot perhaps reaching 9°C

Wind north-northeast 5-11mph becoming 9-15mph this afternoon

TONIGHT

Another cold night ahead with a widespread frost. We are likely to see some high, thin cloud moving in as the night goes on but this will have little impact on the frost risk. Temperature -1°C to 1°C but closer to 2-3°C in the east and north and perhaps as high as 4°C around windward coasts

Wind northeast 1-4mph inland but closer to 4-9mph around windward coasts

TOMORROW

Another fine, sunny day but with areas of high, thin cloud drifting through which will make the sunshine rather hazy at times, especially during the morning. Temperature 6-8°C Wind northeast 5-9mph becoming east-northeast 7-12mph
