Morning update - Warm with sun and patchy cloud today, but hot and sunny tomorrow

TODAY

A fine and very warm day across most of the Island, with plenty of sunshine, but also areas of high, thin cloud which will make the sunshine turn very hazy at times.

Temperature: 20–22°C around windward coasts in the east and south, and even up the west coast. 23–25°C elsewhere, with a few places possibly reaching 26°C across northern and northwestern parts of the Island.

Wind: East to southeasterly 7–12 mph, increasing to 10–17 mph during the afternoon.

TONIGHT

Much the same through the evening and overnight, with clear spells and occasional areas of high, thin cloud moving through. Later in the night, some patches of medium-level cloud will begin to move through as well, but it will stay dry throughout.

Temperature: 11–12°C across many rural parts, 13–14°C in more urban areas, but perhaps as high as 15–16°C around windward coasts.

Wind: East to northeasterly 3–6 mph at first, turning northerly later in the night and remaining around the same strength.

TOMORROW

A hot day across the Island, with a widespread heat alert currently in force for most areas. There will be plenty of sunshine, adding to the heat, with very little cloud around apart from the odd patch here and there. It will start with only a light breeze, although winds will strengthen from the west during the afternoon, bringing a noticeable drop in temperature to many areas. Central, northern and eastern parts are likely to hold onto the heat for longer, where winds will remain more westerly or west-northwesterly.

Temperature: 22–24°C around windward coasts in the south and west, and perhaps along the far east coast as a sea breeze develops. Further inland, temperatures will reach 27–29°C, perhaps as high as 30°C across central and northern parts of the Island.

Wind: Northerly 4–9 mph at first, gradually turning west-southwesterly from the west during the afternoon and increasing to 12–22 mph. Winds are likely to remain more westerly or west-northwesterly across central, northern and eastern parts.
