We have seen a couple of spells so far this summer that could be classed as a heatwave, and now we have a new one gradually developing through the week ahead, perhaps somewhat more widespread and sustained as than what we saw previously.

TOMORROW (MONDAY) Rain during the morning will soon clear away and the cloud will begin to break up to give an afternoon of warm sunny spells. Maximum temperatures 20-22°C in a moderate north-northwesterly breeze

TUESDAY A fine, sunny and warm day across the island with almost unbroken sunshine. Maximum temperatures 20-22°C in a moderate northwesterly becoming west-southwesterly breeze

WEDNESDAY
Another fine and sunny day but feeling significantly warmer across many parts, even rather hot due to the light winds.
Maximum temperatures 24-26°C in a light to moderate northerly then southwesterly breeze

THURSDAY
A hot day across the island with unbroken sunshine. Maximum temperatures 27-29°C in light and variable breezes along with onshore coastal breezes developing

FRIDAY
Another hot and sunny day, especially away from coastal areas where it will feel cooler due to the onshore sea breezes. Maximum temperatures 28-30°C in light a southeasterly breeze but general onshore breezes during the afternoon

NEXT WEEKEND Thing are likely to continue with the heat as we move into next weekend, perhaps becoming even hotter still, although this is some way off and the details may change somewhat. Maximum temperatures 28-32°C in light southeasterly or easterly breezes
