Gales and heavy showers with hail and possibly thunder at first tonight
This evening has seen some very heavy squally showers move across the island with plenty of hail mixed in. These conditions will continue for the first half of the night with the risk of hail and possibly the odd rumble of thunder in the heaviest showers but the second half of the night should see some lengthy dry spells although a few places may still see the odd shower, especially in southern parts of the island.
Min temperature 8'c-10'c in the south and west, 6'c-8'c in central parts and northern parts, 5'c-7'c in eastern parts.
Wind 38-46mph WSW veering W for a time then back WSW later. Risk of 65mph gusts around the heavier showers.
Tomorrows low pressure system and rainfall.
Tomorrow may dawn with a few showers but the cloud will thicken quickly to bring the risk of a little rain although it is extremely uncertain how far north the rainfall will be. The current forecast is for the rain to be mostly to our south with perhaps a few showery outbreaks during the morning. During the afternoon the cloud should break to allow some bright or sunny spells to develop although the risk of a shower will remain.
Max temperature 9'c at first but dropping a degree or two during the afternoon. Wind 25-35mph WSW quickly backing SSW and dropping to 15-20mph although veering WNW during the afternoon and increasing 35-45mph
