Morning update - Rain this morning, clearing by mid afternoon, then sunny spells, followed by sun and broken cloud tomorrow

TODAY

A very wet start to the day, with persistent rain which will be heavy at times. This will stay with us until early afternoon before it starts to clear away to the east, allowing some sunny spells for the second half of the afternoon.

Temperature: 17–18°C

Wind: southwest 12–20 mph, becoming northwest by late morning and increasing to 14–25 mph during the afternoon

Rainfall: 14–18 mm (with 15 mm fallen at our Lake station since midnight)

TONIGHT

Tonight will see a mixture of clear spells and occasional areas of cloud moving through, with the absolute outside chance of a light shower. Most places will stay dry.

Temperature: 10–12°C, but closer to 13–14°C on windward coasts

Wind: west-northwest 12–22 mph, becoming 9–15 mph later

TOMORROW

A generally fine day with good sunny spells, although some areas of cloud will develop as we move into the afternoon. It should remain dry throughout.

Temperature: 18–19°C, with the odd spot in central and eastern parts reaching 20°C

Wind: northwest or west-northwest 10–18 mph, becoming west 8–14 mph later and easing as we move towards the evening
