The rest of today will see occasional bright or sunny spells but also some showers moving through on a strong wind, some of the showers may be heavy with hail or sleet. Later this afternoon and into the evening some of the showers will turn very wintry with hail, sleet and perhaps even a little snow, especially away from the west and north coast although we aren't expecting any snow on the ground but the highest hills may see a slight dusting. Max temperature 5'c to 6'c but 7'c possible in the far south and west but dropping slowly through the afternoon.

Tonight will start with a few showers which may be of sleet or snow but these will clear away rather quickly to leave a mostly dry second half of the night with some long clear spells developing.
Min temperature 2'c to 3'c generally although places in the west and south may be closer to 3'c to 4'c. A few localised spots in central and eastern parts may fall as low as 0'c.

Central and eastern parts of the island may see temperatures fall to 0'c overnight and this combined with surface water from todays showers may lead to some icy patches in rural parts.
