WEATHER WARNING!
Issued:08:00 Thu 15th March
Valid from:09:00 Sat 17th March
Valid until:06:00 Mon 19th March
Details : Snow flurries Saturday may give a dusting over high ground with further snow showers through Saturday night into Sunday morning and its likely that these could become persistent and possibly heavy for time with 5-10cm of snow possible in some southern parts of the island although further north the snow is likely to be somewhat lighter but a covering of up to 5cm is still possible. We are still rather uncertain how much snow is likely to fall although latest data suggests that the heavier bands of snow may be slightly further north than previous updates with southern parts of the island well within the heaviest snowfall zone. Please be aware that there is a risk of drifting due to the strong northeasterly winds, especially in more exposed southern and western parts of the island. There is also the risk of ice/black ice Saturday and Sunday night due to the freezing of melting snow and/or field run off from the recent heavy rainfall. The highest risk of ice is in central and western parts, especially in more rural areas or where the roads and pavements haven't been treated. We may add further updates over the next 48 hours. The general forecast for tonight and tomorrow is still available here
