Morning update - Hot with long sunny spells today, very warm with sun and patchy cloud tomorrow

TODAY

A hot day across the bulk of the Island, with long sunny spells, just a little patchy cloud here and there, mostly at first, and generally light winds to begin with. During the afternoon, a cooling breeze will spread in from the west-southwest, gradually working its way eastwards across the Island and taking the edge off the heat. The east coast will also be cooler right on the beaches thanks to an onshore breeze.

Temperature: 27–29°C across most parts, perhaps reaching around 30°C in central and northern areas. Cooler at 21–23°C in the south and west, as well as right along the east coast.

Wind: Northeast 5–11 mph at first, turning west-southwest by midday across western parts. This change will spread eastwards during the afternoon, becoming generally west-southwest 15–27 mph for a time from mid to late afternoon onwards.

TONIGHT

Another dry and clear night across the Island, with the winds gradually falling light. It will remain relatively warm for most, although a few low-lying rural spots will turn a little cooler later in the night.

Temperature: Generally 16–17°C, locally 13–15°C in a few low-lying rural spots, but closer to 18°C along windward coasts.

Wind: West 12–23 mph at first, becoming northwest and easing to 5–9 mph later in the night.

TOMORROW

Another very warm day across the Island with long sunny spells, although some cloud will bubble up through the morning and into the afternoon, especially across central and northern parts. This will likely fizzle away again later, while some patchy high, thin cloud may also drift through from time to time. During the afternoon, a southwesterly breeze will bring somewhat cooler air in from the west, gradually spreading across much of the Island, although northern and eastern parts should hold onto the warmth for longest.

Temperature: Generally 24–26°C, perhaps peaking around 27°C in northern and northeastern parts during the afternoon. Cooler at around 21–22°C in the south and west.

Wind: Northwest 5–11 mph at first, becoming southwest 11–19 mph during the afternoon.
